Batman, The Dark Knight
Batman (originally referred to as the Bat-Man and still referred to at times as the Batman) is a fictional comic book superhero co-created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger (although only Kane receives official credit) and published by DC Comics. The character first appeared in Detective Comics #27 (May 1939). Batman's secret identity is Bruce Wayne, a wealthy industrialist, playboy, and philanthropist. Witnessing the murder of his parents as a child, Wayne trains himself to physical and intellectual perfection and dons a bat-themed costume in order to fight crime. Batman operates in the fictional Gotham City, assisted by various supporting characters including his sidekick Robin and his butler Alfred Pennyworth, and fights an assortment of villains influenced by the characters' roots in film and pulp magazines. Unlike most superheroes, he does not possess any superpowers; he makes use of intellect, detective skills, science and technology, wealth, physical prowess, and intimidation in his war on crime.

RoomMates RMK1148SCS Batman Gotham Guardian Peel and Stick AppliquesReviewsGreat Batman stickers! Very easy to peel and stick. They are able to peel back off the wall and re-use as well! Very cool! These appliques do not have a solid white background, but a translucent, almost clear background, so the wall color shows through the picture. It's worst on the whites in the picture, which only appear white on the removable backing because the backing is white, but it also affects the lighter colors. These look okay on a light colored wall, but I'd avoid placing these on dark walls. (Note that the giant appliques do have a solid white background and look much better.) They did maintain their peel-and-stick properties during several moves, are easy to handle, and are made with a good quality (not flimsy) vinyl-like material. Average Rating:![]() |

Batman Fleece BlanketReviewsAs of today, I haven't received the fleece blanket I ordered over a month ago. On 01/13/10, I sent PatProducts an email (via Amazon.com), and as of today, I STILL haven't heard anything regarding my item. At this point, I want a refund! This blanket is an absolute piece of junk. Thinner than a paper towel is right! Shouldn't even qualify as a blanket. The picture is not even the same! Any favorable reviews on this item have to be fraudulent. No one in their right mind would give this more than 1 star.Batman Fleece Blanket I purchased this for use at my son's school for his naptime cot. It's absolutely perfect. The size is great for his cot when folded in half - it would work great on a single bed, too. It's very soft and of course my son loves the picture. Good quality, especially for the price. Go to a fabric store and buy fleece that's thicker and of better quality, this is thinner than a paper towel Yeah, you can buy these for a lower price at the local haunt. However, you can't find this nice of a picture design anywhere else. Most of the ones in the local stores are cheesy. This one is cool. It was a gift for someone else's kid who is a batman fan. It was a total hit. Average Rating:![]() |

Elmo's World - Wild Wild West [VHS]ReviewsMy 2 1/2 year-old daughter cannot get enough of this one! By far, the best Elmo video there is.... I'll have to admit I don't really sit through these DVDs, just pop them in when I'm trying to entertain my grandson and it's too late or cold to go outside. He seems to enjoy them and Elmo has always been a safe choice. My 2 yr old granddaughter LOVES this Elmo video! We usually watch it 2 or 3 times in a row. She has learned all the dances and will dance and sing along. It's a cute one, I'd highly recommend it! My daughter just turned 3 and loves Elmo! She really likes this DVD! I'd say it's a good buy for your child if they are an Elmo fan! My son is 3 months old and is very entertained by this video. He looks at the video and coes with a few arm and hand movements. I find that the video is a fun tool for learning and recommend it for young children. Average Rating:![]() |

Batman - The Movie [VHS]ReviewsIt sure would be nice if someone would put out more of these old T.V. shows on DVD's. (Like Batman, Hazel, Green Acres, Here Come the Brides, Petticoat Junction, to name a few.) Some shows have one or maybe two seasons out and then they quit. I for one would like more seasons put out because it sure is better than what is on T.V. today. I am a big fan of Christopher Nolan's recent and much more serious films about Batman. They feature brilliant performances by nuanced actors. But, I also feel like those movies tend to bombard the viewer with a pessimistic worldview which can be very unhealthy if unmediated by good philosophy. This film, featuring Adam West, Burt Ward, Lee Meriwether, Cesar Romero and Burgess Meredith is simply good fun with a twist on the Batman/Catwoman attraction. Originally a theatrical spin-off of the 1960's television show, "Batman" this movie overcomes a cliched plot driven both by the style of the series and conventional wisdom surrounding the supposed juvenile qualities of comic books. (Lest we forget, it was released in 1966, twelve years before Christopher Reeve's wonderful "Superman" gave birth to the mature production of comic book movies). Give this film a chance. It is very earnestly put together, and Adam West still speaks fondly of his days as Batman. It has earned an irrevocable place among pop presentations of the Batman character, and provides a respite from the gloom of the contemporary Batman films. There was something that was truly magical and unique about the 1960's, a time when network television was a major conduit for cultural experience, and fad after fad seemed to explode on the scene. With its campy, comedic, take on the classic comic book character, zany super villains, and unique two episode a week format, Batman quickly became a cultural phenomenon, when it ran on ABC in the spring of 1966. Making stars of Adam West as Batman, and Burt Ward as Robin. 20th Century Fox, and producer William Dozier, actually brought two classic characters from the 1930's to television that year. Besides Batman, The Green Hornet, a classic crimefighter who originated in radio serials, also ran on ABC for one season, starring Van Williams as the Hornet, and Bruce Lee as Kato. It is remarkable that neither Batman, or The Green Hornet, is not yet available on DVD. Batman: The Movie was released in the summer of 1966, after the first season of Batman had already aired, and was basically an extension of the series. The characters, style, and settings, were already familiar to audiences at the time. The movie got into detail about things like the Batcave, stately Wayne Manor, and Bruce Wayne's personal life. Exotic modes of transportation, the Batcopter, and ultracool Batboat, thrilled and delighted fans. It was a brilliant idea to pit the caped crusaders against four supervillains. Together, The Penguin (Burgess Meredith), The Riddler (Frank Gorshin), The Joker (Cesar Romero), and The Catwoman (Lee Meriwether), made up the 'United Underworld'. These classic characters from the comics, had already made the transition to television, thanks to the superb performances of Meredith, Gorshin, Romero, and Julie Newmar during the first season of Batman. Newmar however, was unavailable to play The Catwoman. Sexy, svelte, and a former Miss America, Lee Meriwether (Time Tunnel, Barnaby Jones) was the purrfect choice for the role as the feline villainess. The film also features regular characters, Alfred the butler (Alan Napier), Commissioner Gordon (Neil Hamilton), Chief O'Hara (Stafford Repp), and Aunt Harriet (Madge Blake). The plot is rather silly, and largely designed to showcase the film's many action sequences. The United Underworld have kidnapped Commodore Schmidlapp (Reginald Denny), to get his invention, a dehydrator ray. The device can remove all the water from a human body, a leave only a pile of powder. Hoping to lure Batman to the crooks dockside hideout, The Catwoman, in disguise as Miss Kitka, a Russian reporter, gets involved with Bruce Wayne, setting him up to be kidnapped, and taken on a night flight on one of the Penguin's flying umbrellas. Batman makes a memorable, and exasperating attempt to dispose of a bomb on a pier. The Penguin masquerading as Schmidlapp, is taken to the Batcave with five dehydrated crooks who are destroyed, when they are rehydrated with heavy water. The villains proceed with their plot, and dehydrate the members of the United World Headquarters, and head out to sea in the Penguin's sub. The Dynamic Duo force the sub to the surface, and finish off the crooks in a furious battle. Adam West and Burt Ward get a heavy duty workout, on the land, in the air, and at sea. The film made them even bigger stars. Lee Meriwether rocks, in a dual role. And Burgess Meredith is magnificent, as the cranky Penguin. The multitude of extras in this edition is fantastic. In one commentary track, West and Ward, share some warm and humorous remembrances. Writer Lorenzo Semple has a more detached view of the film, and shares his thoughts in a second commentary track. There are also a number of excellent featurettes covering various facets of the film, the TV series, and the Batmania phenomenon. The interactive Batmobile feature is highly detailed, though it takes a while to go through. The whole package is delightful, and looks fantastic on blu-ray. The price is very reasonable, and is simply a must have for any Batfan of the 1966 program, particularly as the release of original series does not appear imminent. I bought this for my three year old because he likes Batman and the new Batman movies are not appropriate for his age. He loves this movie and has watched it over and over again. I wish they would release the 1966 series since he enjoys this movie so much. I saw this movie when it first came out in theatres. This movie never ceases to amaze me. Although the TV series was intended for youths, it did very well in the ratings amoungst adults - including myself ater it went into sydnication. I bought this DVD a few weeks ago and I still laugh at this campy movie. The DVD includes an additional track on the movie that a person can turn on that has Adam West and Burt Ward doing an audio commentary. Although I am much older now I still laugh at the silliness of this movie. Is there anything that Batman does not carry in his utility belt. And shark repellant (and other unlikely sprays) in a helicopter? There's something you don't see every day but I strong recommend seeing this movie. Average Rating:![]() |

Holy camp site, Batman! After a fabulously successful season on TV, the campy comic book adventure hit the big screen, complete with painful puns, outrageous supervillains, and fights punctuated with word balloons sporting such onomatopoeic syllables as "Pow!," "Thud!," and "Blammo!" Scooby Doo Meets Batman (Clam) [VHS]Reviewssorry that it's has taken so long to get back to u. i've been having internet problems. my daughter was very happy when she got this. once again thank you scooby doo and batman how can you go wrong. My nephew loved this movie. Scooby doo always comes out on top and we all know that batman always does what is right. My grandson loves Scooby Doo and Batman so this video is great with both of the characters in the same movie. This transaction was quick and efficient. My grandson wanted this video and I looked everywhere and then decided to try amazon.com. It was a DVD I couldn't find elsewhere. Great transaction! The Dark Knight (+ BD Live) [Blu-ray]ReviewsI bought this as a collection. Abviously I like this movie itself very much. Audio and video rating of this blu ray is fantastics. Go for it if you like this movie. This is one of the best movies available for the Blu Ray format. The sound is excellent, and the picture is oh, so sweet. Heath Ledger gives the performance of a lifetime, and unfortunately it would be his last. The re-imagining of Batman by Christopher Nolan is one of the best things, if not THE best, ever to happen to the bat. If you have not seen this movie, do not hesitate! Buy it now! You won't regret it. Love this movie! Even with shipping this deal was still cheaper than what we would have paid anywhere else. Would buy again! The Dark Knight is definitely not for small children, but grownups who enjoy Batman and appreciate a different dark moody feel. For some reason Robin was not in the movie, but a lonely lovelorn Batman beset by tragedy. Batman (Christian Bale), upsets the Gotham City Mob. There is also a new D.A., HaRvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), with blond hair and blue eyes and idealistic view on fighting crime. The Joker (Heath Ledger) appears and wants the Gotham City criminals to work with him and kill Batman. Ledger does a fantastic performance as the Joker and provides some wry jokes as he devils his victims. However, he is also frightening and hard to catch - one step in front of the Police. Maggie Gyllenhaal plays the role of Rachel Dawes and Dent and Batman both love her. There are plenty of action sequences and the special effects - especially Dent's face after an accident - are well done. The film is dark but the artistic sets and cinema is excellent. This item was exactly as described, and was received right on time. Would definitely order again from this seller. Average Rating:![]() |

The Dark Knight arrives with tremendous hype (best superhero movie ever? posthumous Oscar for Heath Ledger?), and incredibly, it lives up to all of it. But calling it the best superhero movie ever seems like faint praise, since part of what makes the movie great--in addition to pitch-perfect casting, outstanding writing, and a compelling vision--is that it bypasses the normal fantasy element of the superhero genre and makes it all terrifyingly real... |

Batman Begins [Blu-ray]ReviewsPut aside all the campy gadgets and poor humor, trade the glossy chicmobile in for a ...black....tank, forget the "BAM! SOCK! AND POW!" cue cards, add a dash of Morgan Freeman, a cup of Katie Holmes, an exceptionally English Michael Caine, Liam Neeson as an uncommonly convincing villain, and Christian Bale as the most believable Batman ever and you have the perfect recipe for the redemption of what Batman always should have been! What makes any movie great and worth watching is story - Christopher Nolan and company knocked this one out of the park. It is a rare occasion for me to buy a movie for my collection at home. It HAS to have a great story, it has to make me forget I'm watching a movie, it has to make me care about the characters, it has to have a great score, it has to take me from the quiet burbs to some great locations and it has to be something I want to watch over and over again ~ This one came home with no reservation ~ To quote Dr. Schneider (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade) This movie had me "giddy as a school boy!" from start to finish. To quote the guys that get paid to say this kind of stuff, "Two Thumbs Way Up!" Terrific introduction to the Dark Knight legend. This movie and its sequel assured that Mr Chris Nolan did the best job ever with the caped crusader movies. I already own it in DVD but had to buy the BD version. Specially with a less than $10 price, it is a MUST buy. It was about time we saw the original roots and essence of Batman; what made him become Batman? What did the Bat represent? All other Batman movies had certain flaws: The first two Batman movies (Batman and Batman Returns by Tim Burton) focused mainly on the enemy instead of the Dark Knight itself. The previous two were just garbage. We see here a Bruce Wayne with fear - something that you didn't see in the previous cape crusader films - and his internal side and reaction towards his parent's death. A more focus on the man without the mask and suit. With an important cast that delivered exceptional performances; Gary Oldman, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine, Christian Bale and Liam Neeson (who in my opinion gave the best performance in the film); Batman Begins was the Batman movie we were all waiting for. Excellent movie! Great acting especially Heath Ledger "RIP." The action can be a little overwhelming sometimes. I was not too found of Christian Bale's cheesy batman voice or the fact that katey holmes character was replaced by a woman that looks nothing like her and is ugly. Overall this is a great movie though. Needless to say, this movie is a fantastic origin story of one of the most widely known icons in American popular culture. The disc itself is a must have for blu-ray owners as it is full of the obligatory behind the scenes features. It is an absolute must have for Batman fans as well as movie-buffs. Here's hoping that there will not be a rerelease with even more features, but unfortunately you never really know. Average Rating:![]() |

Batman Begins discards the previous four films in the series and recasts the Caped Crusader as a fearsome avenging angel. That's good news, because the series, which had gotten off to a rousing start under Tim Burton, had gradually dissolved into self-parody by 1997's Batman & Robin... |

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies (Two-Disc Special Edition)ReviewsThis was a real disappointment. The quality of the animation is frequently jerky, artistically lower than Saturday morning fare and miles behind last year's Gotham Knight. There's no reason to spend the money on a Blu-Ray for something with so little detail. Bodies are blocky and distorted, faces are expressionless. The voice acting isn't much better, with the exception of the always excellent Clancy Brown. Batman and Superman deliver their lines in virtual monotones that are barely distinguishable from each other. Dialogue is laughable, and the story isn't much better. The action sequences, while serviceable, don't rise to the level that they can redeem the movie's other flaws. If you're a fan of Superman or Batman, avoid this. Based on the DC Comics graphic novel of the same name, the animated direct-to-DVD adventure "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies" posits a world where Lex Luthor takes advantage of this and that national crisis to get elected president, and then at the first opportunity (of course) manipulates events to make Superman Public Enemy Number One. Being Superman's pal, Batman is soon in the crosshairs, as well. This is an intense, entertaining hour-plus story with lots of cameos by DC's heroes and rogues gallery, all trying to capture Superman either because of misguided loyalty to President Luthor or because they want to collect Luthor's billion dollar bounty on Superman's head. A sequence with longtime Superman foe Metallo trying to take down the Man of Steel is very effective and obviously owes a lot to "The Terminator". I bought the two-disc edition of this animated film, because I generally enjoy the extra features put together for the deluxe editions of these films. This particular two-disc set was no exception, as it included a decent twenty-something minute history of the various Superman/Batman team-ups in the comics (complete with psychological profiles of both heroes); and a fun conversation over dinner between Producer Bruce Timm, voice actor Kevin Conroy (who voices Batman in this film and countless other animated productions) and casting director Andrea Romano. Though "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies" is a tad heavy on fights and action for my taste, I realize that this fact will actually be a plus for many viewers. But whether you have quibbles or not, I think most viewers will consider such things exactly that: quibbles. Because, in the end, this package delivers a more-than-decent story and more-than-decent craftsmanship, along with many engaging extra features. I continue to be an enthusiastic fan of these periodic "DC Universe" animated films. i gotta say,i thoroughly enjoyed this animated offering from DC/Warner Premiere.the animation was top notch.the voice acting was terrific.the fight scenes were outstanding.in fact, the movie was basically just one big long fight scene after another with a veritable rogue's gallery of DC Villains all lining up to take on Superman and Batman.of course, the story takes a huge back seat in this case, other than a brief set up at the beginning.and the movie is short, clocking in at just over an hour not including end credits.normally i prefer a little story depth to my movies, but i got caught up in the action on this one.however,if you do prefer a more fleshed out storyline, you might be disappointed in this one.for me,Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is a 4/5 this is just great- and i was totally set to not like it. first, I have not been a fan of the other DC films, with the exception of New Frontier. The animation was EXCELLENT the story is NOT predictable! everyone is REALLY well developed ... and it is just FUN. there are constant fan moments that really keep a person going... homage, etc. A+ OK...there IS NO VOICE OF BATMAN other than Kevin Conroy as far as I am concerned and he is in full effect on this dvd! Clancy Brown as well as Tim Daly are top-notch as usual. The other full-length movies just aren't worth a flip without the three of these guys behind the voices. The plot is above average. Starts out with Lex being elected President and everyone (except old Supes and Bats) believes that Lex has seen the light and is now righteous and on the side of good. Supes is framed for killing a bad guy and a bounty is placed on his head by Lex. Meanwhile, a hunk of kryptonite the size of a state is hurling towards the planet and threatens to destroy humankind. End with Lex showing his true colors for the whole world to see. Didn't anyone see THAT coming?!?! And oh, yeah, the planet (thank goodness) is saved. Yeah! Now I had to check the back of the box afterwards because I didn't realize the movie was PG-13. There were about 3 or 4 curse words thrown around for effect (h---,b----, d---); and a mention about the size of Powergirl's upward assets. Just a warning for those of you who have kids. The animation is good...a bit more stark and more defined than the Fox and WB series. Wish it could have been longer. Worth a watch! Average Rating:![]() |

Based on the six-issue comic-book arc by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuiness, Superman/Batman Public Enemies finds DC's stalwart heroes on the wrong side of the law. It's not too surprising, considering Lex Luthor has been elected President of the United States, and he sets up an elaborate scheme to frame his archenemy for murdering his henchman, Metallo... |

Batman became a popular character soon after his introduction, and eventually gained his own title, Batman. As the decades wore on, differing takes on the character emerged. The late 1960s Batman television series utilized a camp aesthetic associated with the character for years after the show ended. Various creators worked to return the character to his dark roots, culminating in the 1986 miniseries Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, by writer-artist Frank Miller. The success of director Tim Burton's 1989 film Batman also helped to reignite popular interest in the character. A cultural icon, Batman has been licensed and adapted into a variety of media, from radio to television and film, and appears on a variety of merchandise sold all over the world.
