Wooden toy trains are a system of small toy trains that run on wooden track. The track features grooves which serve to guide the wheels of rolling stock.

Traditionally parts are made of hardwoods which resemble anthropomorphical, fictional, and prototypical railroad equipment. Early wooden trains connected to each other using metal hooks, these have since been replaced, for the most part, by small magnets.

Most manufacturers have supplemented the wood with plastics, such as the use of plastic wheels mounted on metal axles. The majority of the rolling stock, track, fixed plant, and scenery accessories are still made of wood.

Trains are only one of the toys that were made out of wood and was a pull toy... there are lots of them from ducks to bees with wings to dogs... and they make sounds and are a real joy to a child and lots of people collect them. Lots of them were hand made... some whittled. Each one is kind of unique in its own way.. I remember they were some of my favorite toys to play with.. and they are very long lasting ... hard to break.

Got this cot two days ago. Shipping took only one week and it arrived in perfect condition. Yes, assembly requires a bit of time, but all instructions are very clear and easy to follow. didn't have a single problem during assembly: my husband finished it in about 30 minutes and all parts fit perfectly. It looks very well made, bright and fun! Our two-year-old loves it. He spends all the time playing in it and slept real well in it for two nights already. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

We ordered this bed for my son's 2nd birthday. He LOVES it! Not only does the bed look great, it was easy to assemble... did it myself in about 45 min. My son sleeps and plays around this bed all day. He uses it as a fire truck, garbage truck, police car, the list goes on! Love it, love it, love it! Buy it! You won't be disappointed!

We have owned this bed for almost a year now. We moved our son from his crib to this bed when he started climbing out of the crib, a few months shy of 2 years old. It arrived quickly and mostly intact. One piece arrived broken, the red crossbar at the front, but we called KidKraft and they shipped a replacement piece which arrived in a couple of days. I was able to assemble the bed by myself fairly quickly, the instructions were easy to follow. The construction of the bed is pretty solid. I was a little concerned by the fact that the each side of the bed is made up of two sections joined together, end to end. I was worried that these might loosen over time and become a bit wobbly. After almost a year of use and moving the bed between rooms, I can say that the bed is still rock solid. Most importantly, though, our son absolutely loves this bed! Whenever friends come over to the house for the first time, he still wants to show them his bedroom. He also has the KidKraft firehouse bookcase in his room and these two pieces of furniture look great in his room. Solid bed, prompt and friendly customer service, lots of fun for a two year old! What more could we ask for?

The overall bed is good.. easy to assemble (even with the two year old 'helping').. the look of the bed is nice and the design is good. I think this is better then that bulky Step2 fire truck bed.. its more practial and more like a bed and less like a toy. The one fatal flaw I believe is the crappy shelf in the front. It is a very thin piece of wood that is held in there by slats on adjacent boards... however this is a TODDLER BED and of course our son has a tendancy to climb on the front part of the bed (truck)... and often steps in and on the shelf part.. a few times now the shelf given way on one of the long sides.. cracking the board. Not sure why they didn't use the same thickness of boards as the other parts of the bed.. that would have been much better and safer. Its a toddler bed.. the kid is bound to be all over it... so what is up with the cheap, thin shelf. Otherwise it really is a great bed.

This little bed is perfect. It got our 22 month old out of our bed and into his own. He loves it, it's the perfect size, easy to put together, and all wood- very nice. Everyone compliments and asks where we bought it when they see it, very unique. After much online browsing and price comparing, I am sooo glad I chose this one.

FURNITURE SET FURNITURE SET

Reviews

We bought this kit to make a set of furniture for my seven-year-old's dolls. It is definitely a project for an older child or an adult, although my daughter enjoyed working with me on it. It took us many, many hours. The pieces come in four sheets and need to be punched out. A diagram on paper shows which pieces go together . . . for example, a little table has slots 1, 2, 3, 4 while the matching table sides/legs will have tabs numbered 1, 2, 3, 4. However, nothing is labeled "table, chair, etc." so it takes some guesswork and time to figure out how the pieces actually are assembled. Also, I would advise that you only punch out the pieces for the item you are currently assembling! All pieces were present and they all fit after a little work. We put them together using Aleene's Original Tacky Glue, painted them with primer, then added details with acrylic craft paints. Very, very cute in the end. Polly Pocket was happy . . . although her feet stick off the ends of both beds when she lies down. Fortunately, that little detail doesn't matter to my seven-year-old! You can't beat the price, and it is an enjoyable project to work on with a child if you have 10 or more hours to spare. The furniture won't come apart if it is well glued and heavily painted. It could be crushed by a careless foot, however.

I gave this as a gift for a 10 yr old and while she needed some help to put the set together and also gluing it, she had lots of fun painting it by herself. It allows for very creative design if you provide the basic paint colors and give the child a color wheel(just google color wheel and you can print one out free) that shows how to mix secondary colors. Also gold, silver, and copper metallic paint or paint pens are a great add on. ....be sure to buy at least one decent small detail brush so they can add flowers or other small details. This set a bit small for the 1/12 dollhouse but is the perfect size for the older metal dollhouse (1950's) she has. All in all I'd say she had more fun making the furniture than she has had playing with it in the dollhouse. It has held up well with normal play and is a very good value if you want something for the child to both create and then play with.

this was fun to make!!! i really liked it and it was really cute. The furniture was easy to make and didnt take to long. its pretty good quality. the biggest doll it would fit would be a polly pocket.

Great for teaching connecting the different pieces-exactly like puzzles except more challenges...in 3-D. Enjoyed every moment with my kids. Only thing is that it is not exactly durable to be used for daily play at the doll house.

I bought this at Michaels Crafts a couple of weeks ago when I looking for something new to do for my summer projects. This was a great puzzle to put together and with a little glue and paint, I had nice furniture for the dollhouse I got at the same time. But as to the price, like I said that bought this at Michael's. I also got it for less than the price listed. I only ended up paying $4.99 plus tax. So if anyone is interested in buying this. I would look at your local craft store first. You might find it there.

DISNEY Cars MOVIE kids COAT rack hook BOYS ROOM DISNEY Cars MOVIE kids COAT rack hook BOYS ROOM

Reviews

The quality was fine and the product was shipped quickly. However the coat rack was quite a bit smaller then I expected for the price.

This item is much smaller than I anticipated for a coat rack. The hooks are very small and anything more than a sweatshirt falls right off. For decorative purposes it is ok but if you need to actually hang a coat or two, buy something else.

Obviously I missed the line in the description that said perfect for KEYS. That should have been my first clue. It's cute. It's Cars. That's about all this has going for it. It's just a cheap, tiny, little piece of ply wood. This is more for decor than for any purposeful use.

This is a great Thomas movie. My 2 year old LOVES it and I must say I enjoy the experience a lot more than the Calling All Engines DVD. Pierce does a great job of each character and really makes the whole experience more engaging and fun for the whole family. I especially like the story, the overall message and the water scenes that Thomas is in. Don't miss this one, it's a wonderful addition for your train loving child.

My little 3-year old son is a huge fan of Thomas and just loves this movie. He watches it daily and just loves singing the little songs. He really wants the Thomas at Action Canyon toy that is featured in the movie, but unfortunately, I have been unable to find it for him. I guess it is discontinued. Anyway, this is an adorable movie that I am sure your little Thomas fan will just love.

My 2 1/2-year-old is Thomas crazy! He loves the tracks, trains and this video is really a hit. It helps me a lot, because I work from home, and sometimes I need my boy to be focused on something for longer than 5 minutes, and this video does the trick. I also think it's a nice story and it has a pretty nice message.

My 2 yr old grandson loves this movie. He and I watch it during lunch--I can get him to eat vegetables better because he's so enthralled with the movie he doesn't realize what he's eating!!

If your kids are Thomas fans then this one will be a big hit. They loved the plot and all of the trains in it. Money well spent!

The Music of Raymond Scott / Reckless Nights and Turkish Twilights The Music of Raymond Scott / Reckless Nights and Turkish Twilights

Reviews

I have heard "Powerhouse" and other Raymond Scott works used in all sorts of animation and other projects. I was pleased to hear his other compositions and performances-- I've very glad I found this CD at Amazon.

You may have heard some of Raymond Scott's compositions played by such bands as Ambrose, Sydney Lipton, or Jack Harris, but until you hear this you ain't heard nothin' yet. Scott was a very inventive individual, whose passion for technology influenced his musical compositions, and lent them a unique character. This compilation presents twenty of the 23 commercial releases which the Raymond Scott Quintette recorded between early 1927 and mid-1939, plus two of the later recordings by his New Orchestra. Sound quality is excellent, and trumpeter Russ Case deserves special mention for his high-speed staccato delivery on "Tobacco Auctioneer". The 20-page illustrated liner note sets out Scott's career in some detail, although in trying to be equally quirky has sacrificed something to legibility. But never mind, this is a fascinating glimpse of a stylised jazz form which if it never quite took off has never quite gone away either.

I'm not surprised so many other reviewers have given this album five stars. It's a perfect collection. Some would say the sound quality isn't up to par with the great recordings of the 20th century, and that's true, but this album made me realize something about the music of Raymond Scott -- it was actually written with that poor sound reproduction in mind. When this music is recorded in high fidelity, it's almost too much (though Carl Stalling certainly did a magnificent job with his arrangements of Raymond Scott's music -- especially "Powerhouse"). I think the lower fidelity of this recording protects the listener from the full "manic" impact, giving you a chance to enjoy the performances and the composition. There's a program on TV right now, I believe it's called HOW IT'S MADE, that shows wonderful automated factories making all sorts of products. I can never see those machines without hearing "Powerhouse" in my head. Raymond Scott was truly a composer of the Jazz/Machine Age, an absolute genius. Get the real thing, folks, the original.

What a great stress-buster! The syncopated rhythms and happy melodies perk up a dull day at the office and help me breeze through household chores.

Honestly, I purchased this CD after someone played "Powerhouse" and I recognized the song from many of the classic Warner Brothers' cartoons of the 40's and 50's. I had heard this piece many times but never appreciated how fantastic it was without animation accompanying it. I purchased this CD and it just blows my mind that so few people know anything about Raymond Scott. All the pieces are interesting but the amazing feel of his music comes from how well he paints a picture through sound. "Tobacco Auctioneer" and "At an Arabian House Party" both floored me with the musical moods that he arranged. Scott also stands out as a great example of closely arranged and innovative jazz. While he allowed some of the musicians to improvise during the sessions, he set the arrangement in stone once he had it "perfected", so some people may even disagree with classifying his music as jazz. Jazz or not, this music is more than a soundtrack to some great cartoons, it stands on its own as an unappreciated direction that instrucmental music took during the early 20th century.

Average Rating:

Prewar gems from a long-neglected master. Scott's career as composer, bandleader, and electronic-music pioneer is just beginning to be rediscovered. Here he mixes swing jazz with classical forms, exotica (long before there even was such a thing), and his own hyperactive melodies to create a timeless sound...

This unit is really nice. It is balanced and easy to roll, unlike most wheelbarrows, which are prone to tipping and sinking into soft ground with only one wheel. It folds up in seconds. The down side is that I use the supplied bar to hang it above my truck. The unit is almost too heavy for me to lift up to the hanging position. A younger person would have no problems though. I recommend it.

I needed a garden cart but didn't have enough room in the garage to store one; this solved the problem. Assembly was straight forward, has decent capacity, handles well, folds and unfolds easily, hangs on the wall when not in use. So far, it has done everything that I have needed it to do with no problems. I'm giving it a thumbs up.

This is a great DVD. I always loved this movie and now my kids got to see it and they loved it. This DVD even looks great in color too.

this is the original, there are several copies with similiar titles, but this is the real deal that I watch as a kid. my son in law loved it.vd

March of the wooden soldiers has been a Christmas season favorite since my children were toddlers. I have always been a fan of Laurel and Hardy. I was delighted to find that it had been released to DVD and that I could purchase it. I like the black and white version best, although the colorization isn't bad. I liked that both versions were included. It is a simple story of good vs bad and my grandchildren were amply entertained while learning a lesson.

They didn't air this movie on Thanksgiving in 2009, as they usually do, so I bought it to kick off my Christmas season with. This DVD has both the colorized version and the black and white version for purists like my dad. Great value and great buy!

Loved The Bishops Wife and Pocketfull fo Miracles. Did not care much for March of the Wooden Soldiers.

Tried to find this movie everywhere, of course Amazon had it. If you made it this far then you probably already know about the movie but it was definitely worth the buy. Loved it!

this was for my dad and he loved it he was like a kid all over.

Great movie by the greatest comedy team ever. The color version is done very well(sorry "purists") and would certainly be more palatable to kids. But if you want black and white, then I guess you'll just have to be careful which one you order. Anyway, it's a very nice blend of L+H, music, and story. In other words, not just strictly for L+H fans, but anyone of any age.

I saw this in the 5th grade and it is just as good now as it was then.

I remember watching this on TV as a child, and bought it to watch with my grandchildren - they loved it! Lauren & Hardy and other actors/comedians from the 1930's, 40's, and 50's should not be forgotten.

Average Rating:

The most lavish feature built around Laurel and Hardy, 1934's March of the Wooden Soldiers is also the most bizarre. Opening unpromisingly with one of several mawkish numbers derived from Victor Herbert's musical Babes in Toyland, the antics of toyshop laborers Stannie Dum and Ollie Dee are worked into a scenario midway between Lewis Carroll and the Brothers Grimm...

Since these were so inexpensive I actually bought several and my husband keeps one in the car and took one to work. Feels sturdy and scratches much better then the metal ones.

Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway - Molly Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway - Molly

Reviews

My 2 year old daughter loves Thomas so we bought her all the "girl" trains as well. We have Molly, Emily, Lady etc. & she loves them. Molly is really cute. I think she's my favorite.

My grandson plays with this toy for hours at a time. The train was well constructed and shows no signs of failure at the hands of a 2-year old.

Molly is one of four new engines to appear in the latest series of "Thomas and Friends." She is a small yellow tender engine, with four large driving wheels. She is sensitive and easily upset, but she is also very hard-working. With her bright colours and distinctive appearance, Molly is a perfect addition to any LC Thomas collection. This is definitely worth owning.

Molly is one of the new additions to the Thomas the Tank Engine TV Series. A bright yellow engine, she arrived in Season 9 in the episode "Molly's Special Special". My son has been wanting the Fog Cars for some time so I was going to pick it up for him for Christmas when we were out shopping last weekend. But when he saw Molly, he exclaimed that was the one he wanted. Go figure! Molly looks a bit like Emily and comes in two parts as the larger trains crafted for the wooden railway usually do. No bells and whistles with this engine but it seems to have caught my son's eye! (And he has DOZENS of Thomas the Tank Engine trains--both Ertl diecast and the larger ones designed for the wooden tracks.)

Molly is one of Thomas' new friends featured in Season 9 and "Tales from the Tracks" video and DVD. Molly is a yellow powerful engine. She looks like Emily, except with four giant drive wheels. She wants everyone to think the best of her and steams away from any conflict. When Thomas first met her, she was supposed to pull empty trucks but Molly didn't want to. Thomas had an idea to fill up the trucks with stuff to make it a "Special Special". Whenever the engines saw her, they were amazed. But when they found out it was fake, Molly learned that she doesn't have to be so popular at all. As seen in the story "Molly's Special Special".

Average Rating:

Molly is a large, powerful and bright yellow engine. She is proud of her strength and wants it to be used and useful. As well as being mighty, however, Molly is also sensitive. She's very aware of what the other engines think of her and wants them to think the best...
