Webkinz
Webkinz are stuffed animals that were originally released by the Ganz company on April 29, 2005. The toys are similar to many other small plush toys. However, each Webkinz toy has an attached tag with a unique "Secret Code" printed on it that allows access to the "Webkinz World" website. On Webkinz World, the Secret Code allows the user to own a virtual version of the pet for virtual interaction.
There are also smaller, less expensive versions of the toys called Lil' Kinz. In June 2008, Webkinz opened its own eStore, where users can buy virtual items such as furniture and virtual pets.

Strawberry Cloud leopard is soft and cuddly and is coloured in a beautiful pink hue. Even it's name is pretty. This leopard is different to her other webkinz "pets" in that it is a fantasy creature. What? Leopards aren't really baby pink with brown spots? She enjoys playing online with all of her webkinz pets and Strawberry Cloud Leopard is no exception. A pretty, girlie toy and a wonderful addition to her Webkinz collection. I ordered this item for my niece for Christmas. Apparently, it came from an outside vendor, not directly from Amazon. It came in excellent condition and is really pretty with very lovely colors. My niece loved it and said it was her favorite Christmas present. My daughter is very pleased with this webkins. It is just what she wanted. After I had purchased this online, I came across it locally for about 10 dollars less. However, my daughter is happy so I am happy. The Complete Idiot's Guide to WebkinzReviewsI purchased this book a year ago when my daughter and I first embarked on this journey into Webkinz World. I found the chapters helpful in finding the gems in gem hunt and helping my daughter take care of her pets. No there isn't indepth analysis as the site changes and updates games, rooms and new elements periodically. But for a mom like me, who has never been good with video games, I found the book encouraged dialogue between my then 8 year old and now we have our special time together going over what is new at Webkinz World and testing our knowledge of trivia on Quizzy's Corner. Anything that will give you and your child quality time where you are both sharing ideas on decorating, money budgets, pet naming, spelling, math and history is a good thing to me! You would have to be and "Idiot" to think you need this book. Look at the website. Everything you need to know is there! All you need to pay for is the pet. Any updates are also listed in the site newspaper. Don't waste your money!!!! Seriously, if you can use a computer you will not need this. I can't believe how much you can do with this little virtual pet. Without this book, my son would have been just pushing around his pet in his virtual playroom. This is a well organized, easy to use guide to get you started on your own virtual adventure. I would highly recommend it. This is so not worth the money. You can get all of this info plus real time information off of several websites. the money you use to buy this could be another Webkinz. This is an excellent introduction and overview of the Webkinz world. They give helpful suggestions, such as carefully picking your child's user name as it is the name they will be known by in tournaments, and in the Webkinz world. They explain how to keep your Webkinz happy such as; · Putting it to bed before you log out · Feeding it healthy food · Playing with it · Bathing it · Having it's favorite toy (and where to find out what that is, on the my pets bio) They bust the urban legend that Webkinz die, which they don't. They can get sick though, and that requires a visit to Dr. Quack's clinic where you are often told they need more sleep or a better diet. There are areas where I wish the authors went into more detail, such as specially formulated foods like the Iceberg Chili for polar bears. I know from personal experience if you feed one of these special foods to the wrong pet, the wrong pet will complain. They mention the subject, but only give two examples. I would have found a complete list more valuable. They touch on everything in the Webkinz world, from decorating your room, to the most efficient way to earn money such as Quizzy's . The general sections of the book are; 1. Getting started 2. Earning cash...and what you can buy 3. Fun and games 4. Educational activities 5. Communication and security 6. Other fun things to do online 7. Cooking and socializing 8. Webkinz trading cards 9. FAQs (frequently asked questions) Apendixes that include; · Webkinz and Lil' Kinz · Where to buy Webkinz · Gem Hunt Hints (this tells where to find specific gems) With as many hours as I have logged helping my six year old navigate Webkinz world, I still learned several things from this book. If you're a complete expert in one area of Webkinz, such as cooking or a particular game, you will likely be disappointed in that particular area of the book, because it is an overview and introduction. It is not an in depth analysis of the website, which as you may know is huge. But for someone who is simply looking to help their child and who hasn't already master every single in and out of the site, this is an excellent guidebook to the world of Webkinz. Kinds of Webkinz
There are many types of Webkinz. Some normal pets, some wild animals, some mythical creatures, and some completely made up.
Gameplay
Each Webkinz stuffed animal and Webkinz accessory comes with an 8-character code. By registering this code on the Webkinz website, you "adopt" this pet in the virtual Webkinz World. Without the Secret Code, the user may not get access to the Webkinz world. Toy animals that are missing tags are not supposed to be sold by retailers, and removal of the tags without purchasing the animal is considered shoplifting. If a user forgets a login name and password, they can always go back to the Secret Code to gain access. Without the Secret Code, a user cannot recover a lost account. Currently, accounts expire within one year, unless another Webkinz animal is purchased, and that animal added to the user account.
The Webkins World is an online play area with its own economy. The user receives money (called KinzCash) by adopting new pets, playing online games, answering general knowledge questions, and through daily activities like clicking "I love my Webkinz!", spinning the Wheel of WOW, playing Wishing Well 2, or completing jobs (minigames) available once every 8 hours. Each day, there is a Game of the Day which can be played for bonus KinzCash, and other bonuses are available each hour, full days on weekends and afternoons only on weekdays. With each Webkinz toy purchased, more money, rooms, and items are added to the user's account.
Users can spend their KinzCash at what is called the W Shop, where they can purchase food and clothing for their pet, items for their pet's room or to build additional rooms onto their house, or outdoors areas etc. Users can decorate a room for their pet with pre-made themes, or mix and match their own furniture.
The online world also contains many rare or exclusive items. Some of these items require developing a friendship with the Curio Shop owner to purchase, while others you get for registering other Webkinz accessories you purchase in the real world. Each type of pet gets a special food available exclusively for them. Also, a Pet of the Month is announced at the beginning of each month. If a person registers the announced pet in that month, they will receive other exclusive items.
Many of the tasks in Webkinz World involve collecting items. For example, recipes are released for the players through cookbooks you can purchase or one of the TV Shows called The Secret Chef. Gems can be mined once a day at the Curio Shop, with a full set of gems being turned into the Webkinz Crown of Wonder and buy exclusive items. A similar feature, called Alyssa's Star Hunt, involves users clicking on colored stars to find valuable stars. You can also go to Dr. Quack for a check up on your Webkinz' health.
Some other features of Webkinz include:
* The ability for players to create their own shows with the Webkinz Studio, and enter to be chosen to appear on the Webkinz television.
* Buying a swimming pool, where you can have your Webkinz swim around. This increases their health.
* Sending gifts or letters to friends on a peer-to-peer network.
* Invite a friend over to your house, where you can chat and interact with some board games and items.
* Participate in the hourly events, which can earn you prizes, KinzCash, and coupons, among other things.
* Play Wacky Bingoz, a form of Bingo where you get one, two, and three ball games every day.
* Brushing your pets teeth, hair, washing paws/feathers/feet etc, bathing.
