Star Wars is an epic space opera franchise initially conceived by George Lucas during the 1970s and significantly expanded since that time. The first film in the franchise was simply titled Star Wars, but later had the subtitle Episode IV: A New Hope added to distinguish it from its sequels and prequels. Star Wars was released on May 25, 1977 by 20th Century Fox, and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon, initially spawning two sequels. Twenty-two years after Star Wars was released, Lucas began the release of a second trilogy as a prequel to the original trilogy.

Perfect for a boy or girl Clone Wars fan. My son and daughter split the pack and had plenty for both of their rooms. Easy to reposition. Recommend an adult to peel them from the paper so the lightsabers don't get torn off as that part of the sticker is skinny.

This has very rich colors and looks "awesome" as my son put it in a boys room. Wouldn't work as well for a girl as it is all male characters pictured: clone troopers, Yoda, Anakin and Obi Wan. Great way to decorate without all the mess! Took about 30 minutes to put up on my son's walls after I took off his old peel and stick border.

The Star Wars Trilogy: Star Wars/The Empire Strikes Back/Return Of The Jedi (Re-recording) The Star Wars Trilogy: Star Wars/The Empire Strikes Back/Return Of The Jedi (Re-recording)

Reviews

While this album of the soundtrack of the Star Wars trilogy made when people could still act includes many of my favorites, including March of the Ewoks, Forest Battle, Asteroid Field, and of course the infamous Main Theme, I was dejected to find that some very important chunks have been left out: Darth Vader's theme is nowhere to be found, except hidden as a few bars within the Imperial March. This is hardly satisfying to a fan like myself, whether or not that fan roots whenever the black cape appears. The fact is, if I had to choose between Fox's fanfare as track one (which lasts for 20 seconds and is ONLY the fanfare) and Vader's theme on the CD, I would opt for Vader. It also must be noted that Luke's theme is also missing, though Yoda's and Leia's are present. This CD has been my tie to the epic saga when I am away from the shiny box, and I'm glad I've got it. I think it would be a challenge to find a CD that's close to this one and/or even surpasses it.

This CD is a conglomeration of the majority of the most famous themes from the original Star Wars trilogy. I first picked this CD up way back before the official soundtracks were released on CD in 1997, because it had most of the things I wanted at the time. Since, I have come to appreciate the film score in its entirety, but I still listen to this occasionally. The audio quality is excellent for such an old recording (it was originally released on vinyl in '83), and in many cases is better than the film versions. Here, the presentation of John Williams' work is more like a concert suite than a movie soundtrack, more deliberate and, in some cases, more grand and sweeping. In particular, the motif at the very beginning of the first film, when the rebel ship is overtaken by the Star Destroyer, sounds much less muddy and much more menacing on this recording than the film soundtrack. "Fight With TIE Fighters" is the same way. A soundtrack for a film trilogy cannot really be condensed onto a single disc and include all of the important themes, but what is here is excellent. I recommend this to anybody who is interested in a slightly different take on the music from the films, and also those who might prefer having most of the famous, important themes all on one disc. It's well worth picking up even for people who already own the official soundtracks.

This CD (originally released on Vinyl in 83) covers most of the major themes from the Original star wars trilogy. Side A was star wars and the empire strikes back and Side B was Return of the Jedi. Varujan Kojian and the Utah Symphony Orchestra perform some of the best versions of concert arragements from the original trilogy. This is a million times better than the CD by the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra. This recording was done with the blessing of Mr. Williams and Lucasfilm. I can't think of any single disc star wars compilation better than this one.

If you like the music from Star Wars, then you have come to the right place! You get all of the best music from the first three Star Wars movies, episodes IV, V, and VI including the exciting The Asteroid Field, the classic Main Title, and the famous Imperial March. Ooh, goosebumps. Buy this ASAP!

I got this CD for Christmas a few years back and, being a die-hard Star Wars fan, I really would have liked the bigger version. But John Williams is THE composer of the 20th century and here is no exception. There are classics such as "Imperial March" and the "Star Wars theme" buy it!

MARCHES IN HI-FI is a re-release of a Fiedler "Living Stereo" recording. There are a variety of marches in the collection including classical marches, marches of John Philip Souza, and marches from big screen hits. Each piece is played to perfection by the Boston Pops Fiedler's legendary sound is evident throughout the album. Many of the titles are on the FIEDLER'S FAVORITE MARCHES collection, but this collection is worth the purchase for the tracks that are not in his other collection of marches. Some of the additional marches include "March of the Siamese Children' from THE KING AND I, "The March of the Charioteers" from BEN HUR, "Alla Marcia" from Sibeleus' KARELIA and "The War March of the Priests" of Mendelssohn.

10 year old grandson received this collection to augment his Storm Trooper helmet. A week in sick bay provided the perfect excuse to view them all. He loved the scene in the bar in I, loved Princess Laeah, and has collected all the Star Wars Fleet Ships with figurines to fly them. The Storm Trooper Clones are cool and fun, but the 30 year old classics still hit the spot.

This dvd set was just what we wanted, my son loved it as a Christmas gift!

If you didn't like all of the changes to the original trilogy in the 1997 "special editions," you'll be happy to know that some of them have been toned down for the release onto DVD. Unfortunately, Greedo shoots first and that stupid rock band is still in Jabba's palace. However, the shootout scene is reworked to make it a bit more plausible (well, a bit) and some of the other changes were simply removed (such as Luke's scream when he falls at the end of Empire). The Jabba the Hutt encounter in A New Hope has also been redone to make Jabba look more realistic. The special effects have all been cleaned up and look incredible. It's still so hard to believe they were made 30 years ago. If you can just ignore the Greedo scene and fast-forward over Jabba's rock band, I think this is the best version of Star Wars yet. A more substantive complaint with this DVD set is that it doesn't include any deleted scenes. I'm not sure why there aren't any deleted scenes included in the Bonus Features, because they are rumored to exist. I would love to see the scenes with Biggs on Tatooine, or wampas attacking stormtroopers. I sure hope Lucas releases them at some point - it would be a tragedy if they simply went to waste.

We enjoyed the first (1st) set so much, we wore them out. Liked the changes (additions).

Of course this is awesome! I was fourteen when I saw Star Wars when it was first introduced in 1977 and it is still a wonderful movie. I love the new special effects, I think this is what George Lucas orignally wanted to do with the movies but the technology hadn't been invented yet (boy I'm dating myself here). Enjoy!

The Star Wars trilogy had the rare distinction of becoming more than just a series of movies, but a cultural phenomenon, a life-defining event for its generation. On its surface, George Lucas's original 1977 film is a rollicking and humorous space fantasy that owes debts to more influences than one can count on two hands, but filmgoers became entranced by its basic struggle of good vs...

This was hugely enjoyable. The new cast did a beautiful job portraying our favorite Star Trek characters and the story line was riveting. I was worried about bringing in new actors but they carried it off so well I can't imagine them not being in the next Star Trek movie. The special effects were perfect. I thought I was on a ship in space. There wasn't anything to distract from the story. The new crew are just great but I think the best new actor played Scotty. Buy this movie. You won't regret it.

This was my first blu-ray purchase and I couldn't be happier. I absolutely loved this movie. It grabs you from the opening scene and holds you until the end. The opening sequence is incredible! The special effects, the acting and best of all, the music. The escape scene from the Kelvin into the Star Trek intro still gives me chills when I watch it. A great movie.

Reinventing Star Trek, a much adored franchise by all of its dedicated fans, was a brave move to make and one that few had ever dared and J.J. Abrams finally took the dream to the next step. Abrams, producer of the much loved Lost TV show seems to be the next big name in the moviemaking business and is truly a man with great talent. His last film, Cloverfield, was a massive blockbuster success and this, regardless of actual story quality, was bound to achieve the same. Luckily, this wasn't just an SFX bonanza with little substance. It had a story you could enjoy and actors that understood and appreciated the characters they were portraying. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto take on the most important roles as both Spock and Captain James T. Kirk, yet they play the roles with ease and affection and will undoubtedly take the roles into new and special areas. Established in an alternate reality through the medium of black holes, it must first be explained that this isn't a movie that follows any of the major continuity of the original series. This gives the writers the freedom to mess with the timeline as much as they want without upsetting the die hard Trek fans too much, although I'm sure they'll be upset by something. The story follows a renegade Romulan, Nero on a quest to get his revenge against Spock (not the young Spock, future Spock) for the destruction of his homeworld by a supernova which he blames on Spock. The revenge which he will get is by destroying Vulcan and then moving on to destroy Earth when he's done. This also follows the formation of the Enterprise crew as its pending Captain, James T. Kirk as they progress through Starfleet academy and move into space. The overall plot itself is, admittedly, quite basic, but it's the characters and the actors that play them which make the movie worthwhile. Chris Pine as the arrogant James T. Kirk seem the perfect fit as Pine approaches the character with a youthful ambition to succeed but a reckless mind that is easily sidetracked. Zachary Quinto took on the role that would undoubtedly draw the most criticism had it been played wrong, but thankfully portrayed Spock with a confidence befitting of the character itself. He expresses the perfect balance of emotion and logic that you would expect from the half human, half Vulcan character. There was not just pressure on Quinto because he was playing the much loved character, but also he was acting alongside the man who played the original character, Leonard Nimoy. The co-stars of Karl Urban as `Bones' McCoy, Zoey Saldana as Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty and John Cho as Sulu do well in their respective roles. Anton Yelchin as Pavel Checkov, however, does considerably well in mimicking the accent of the original character but adds a fresh charm to it as his role progresses through the latter half of the picture. Eric Bana is bland and forgettable as the antagonist of the film which is a disappointment as Bana can really make a role his own when he wants to, but he struggled with this which is a shame. The look of the film, as you would expect from an Abrams film is superb. It's a slick looking film, and as you would expect, presents the futuristic atmosphere perfectly. They remain generally loyal to the overall look of the Star Trek universe when it comes to the diversity of the Alien races, the uniforms, ships and weapons. The new film has even managed to recreate some of the subtle humour familiar with the original series, along with the infamous redshirt character dying which was something quite familiar in the old series. Overall Abrams has done well. It's been a welcome reboot to what some may have considered a dying franchise, but there is one downside to this new Star Trek franchise and that is it may have been made too big, too epic to make a return to the small screen for a reboot series. If the movie cast could be drawn in to star in a series, then there's no doubt that it would be a huge success, especially if Abrams were at the helm. However, that is very unlikely and I do think that with this movie, we have seen the last of the great Star Trek series'. An impressive film with some amazing special effects and a young, talented cast which cannot go wrong with any film fan. It's only logical that you should witness it first hand.

Despite some week points on the history, this is an wonderful movie and this 3 disc version go deep on the Star Trek universe, and it is a must have item for every movie collection. The extras worth it. Image is outstanding, one of the best I ever saw and the same for the sound. I have watched several times, and still like it very much every time. The actors were just perfect and the dialogs memorable. J J Abrams did a very good job, and in my opnion the history is even better than Avatar. I don't know why it did not get, at least, more Oscar indications, maybe it was just prejudice... Buy this Blu-Ray, you won't regret.

Put these on top of white swirly cupcakes and they were a hit with 3, 4, and 5 year old boys and girls! Think they would also look great on top of red icing!

I used these for my 5 year old's star wars party. They were a hit with the kids and adults. I swirled frosting on the cupcakes, sprinkled some sugar crystals on and inserted the rings in the center. They looked great and I was asked if they were professional. The kids took the rings home as a party favor. Love them!

Bought this for my son's 5th birthday cake. Looked really cool atop his two tiered black cake. Just would be so much better if you could keep the sabers lit! My husband actually rigged them with a tiny wooden wedge stuck in to keep them on while we sang Happy Birthday. Not very bright, though, if you're having an outdoor party. Overall, made his cake awesome!

I had to make a cake last minute for a friends son's birthday. I found this online & ordered. I then called the company & left a message about the urgency of the order as I needed it for that weekend. They left me a very nice message that day saying that they had shipped the item for me. Great service! The figures looked great on the cake & they lit up when the button on the back was pressed. I only wish that there was a way to keep them lit up during the 'grand presenation' of the cake.

The mini-figures are great, as toys, after the party. Recieved what we in Jamaica call 'brawta',...a little extra, ie. our theme-colored balloons, cupcake sprinkles, and candles for the cake. Loved that!! Recieved them quickly...service can't be beat!!! Highly recommend!

5 year old birthday cake toppers- The kids loved the glow in the dark light sabers and actually slept with them. Unfortunately one broke off, but I guess that is to be expected if you are cuddling up to a light saber. For a cake decoration they are great, but they don't take the place of an action figure.

HURRAY! Not only were these decorations amazing for our Toddler's cake, but about a week after the party since we cleaned and dried them I thought to let my Toddler play with them as toys. THAT is when I realized they freakin' light up when you push their backs! I don't remember reading the lightsabers lit up but...THEY DO!

This is actually a thin piece of plastic used as temporary decoration for a party...NOT a mural or poster as it was presented. The description is very decieving of the actual item! I am very disapointed in the quality of this purchase! I feel like it is misrepresented and should state that it is a throw away plastic sheet not a mural. I am shocked that the shipping is $6.95, that led me to believe that is was a heavy duty thick wall mural. It could have been shipped for the price or a letter and weight barely more than a typical piece of mail!

We actually found one of these at a bargain store today for $8 and it was worth the money - the batteries are already dying (likely because of kids playing with it in the store) but the sound and lights are true to advertisement - the Death Star lights up and plays the Star Wars theme when opened. It's a big dispenser and pops out the entire pack of pez, not single candies. Great for a Star Wars fan who has everything else, or a Pez Dispenser collector. :)

We bought this for our 7 year old last year. We still have it. It's in great condition, despite being left outside on many occasions in rain and snow. It was really easy for him to manage and a great segway into a bigger scooter. His little brother inherited it this past summer, and it is really easy for him to ride and he is only two! It is a little wobbly, that's the only reason I rated it a 4. But if your child can balance himself, he'll have no problem.

I got this book because I'm a Lego collector and I love star wars. This has helped me to see what all is out there, and to find out about some of the spacial mini figures in some of the not so popular sets. Not sure what other star wars sets you want to buy, then get this book, it will help you make up your mind.

My 8 year old is a huge lego fan and is a StarWars fan as well. Because the pictures are illustrated so well, he is able to build similar models from the legos he already has. Which means I don't have to buy all the different sets. This book has opened his imagination for ideas to build new things.

In brief, my 6 year-old son absolutely loves this book. It's funny to hear him reference the different sets from the encyclopedia (essentially this is a Lego Star Wars encyclopedia, when they were made and which characters come with the various sets. The print and paper stock is very high quality plus the book includes a "hard to find" mini-figure (Luke at the end of Star Wars). Well worth the price.

According to Amazon if I order this book it will take "Two to five months" WTF??? I've never heard of such a thing. What's the problem?

I ordered this book for my son as a reward for his report card thinking it would ship between 7-10 days. He has special needs and looked each day for this book to arrive, after the reasonable time I checked the shipping status and it said not yet shipped and that it would arrive between April and June and we are in February! He was so sad to hear we aren't buying this book. I never saw in the listing that the item would take so much time! Shame on you!

Bought the book for my 9yr old grandson who is into Lego Star Wars. The book has a great deal of information about the Lego sets and special notes on many of them that otherwise would not be known. Excellant visuals and what comprises a Lego set i.e. number of pieces and how many people come with it. He loves it. I learned more than I could imagine going through the book with him.

We ordered this for my Son's school, at the same time as we ordered the hardback version (LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary) for ourselves. They look to be identical except that this one does not include the mini-fig. As a result it also doesn't have the 1/4 inch spacer mat inside the front cover. As for content, there are a few pages at the front that are a listing of all the lego star wars sets. After that the pages are much like the normal The Visual Dictionary of Star Wars, Episodes IV, V, & VI: The Ultimate Guide to Star Wars Characters and Creatures, except with close up pictures of legos, rather than movie stills.
